How can I get involved to help my community be prepared?

Are interested in learning how you, your family, and your neighbors can be better prepared for a disaster?

Would your group or organization like to be better prepared to help the community in times of disaster?

Do you have a specific skill that could be used in times of emergencies?

Do you have desire to be a part of a volunteer team that plays an important role in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from a disaster?

The Calhoun County EMA helps coordinate and support programs to help residents take personal responsibility for their emergency preparedness, get training in first aid and emergency skills, and volunteer in support of local emergency responders, disaster relief, and community safety.  Please see the attached flyer that provides information about our community preparedness activities.

Opportunities include:

  • The Ready Business program
  • Student preparedness and Campus & Teen CERT programs
  • Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)
  • Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD)
  • Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program

The EMA works to help coordinate volunteer activities to make our communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to any emergency situation. It provides opportunities for people to participate in a range of measures to make their families, their homes, and their communities safer from the threats of crime, terrorism, and disasters of all kinds.

If you are interested in receiving any of the training offered by the EMA or in volunteering with an emergency support group, please contact the Calhoun County EMA.
