Alabama’s ninth severe weather preparedness sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, and ends at midnight, Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020, allowing Alabama shoppers to stock up tax free on common supplies costing less than $60 that every home and business needs to prepare for a natural disaster or even a general emergency. The Emergency Management Agency unveils the start of the new Preparedness Partners Program for Calhoun County. This Program is in cooperation with Jacksonville State University’s Center for Disaster and Community Resilience. Preparedness Partners will serve as a blueprint to help organizations prepare their people and places for emergencies. The new program will allow groups such as, churches, businesses, non-profits, schools, and government offices to go through preparedness activities in a concise and self paced program. Emergency Management Agency staff will serve as a resource for participating organizations to help guide them through five phases of readiness.
