- Hurricane Sally Joint Relief Fund
Last week, Hurricane Sally made landfall in South Alabama causing much flooding and property damage. While we cannot all deploy to the affected areas, we can all help by donating needed items. Starting today through this Friday, September 25th, Calhoun County EMA, alongside other organizations in Calhoun County, are coordinating a joint relief drive for hurricane survivors in Baldwin County, Alabama. Hurricane Sally has made landfall and is slowly moving northeast and will move across South-Central Alabama this afternoon and overnight. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the projected path of hurricane Sally will be south of Calhoun County. Below are forecast graphics from NWS in Birmingham. Calhoun County is under a FLASH FLOOD WATCH until 1 PM Thursday. Make sure you have your Emergency Supplies Kits prepared as Hurricane Sally makes her way up from the Gulf Coast. According to the National Weather Service, Hurricane Sally is forecast to make landfall near or along the MS/AL line early Wednesday afternoon. The system is expected to curve northeast and move across Central Alabama late Wednesday through Thursday. It is important to BE AWARE and WEATHER READY as Sally moves through the area. According to the National Weather Service, tropical storm Sally became a category 1 hurricane around 11:00 AM and its projected path will cross over Central Alabama after making landfall.
